Creating an FTP user account in cPanel
Login to your cPanel account. (Don’t know how to login to your cPanel account? Click here)
From the category Files, click on “FTP Accounts”.
Once inside the FTP Accounts page, enter the informations required for the account creation. You can also use the “Password Generator” for system generated password. Then click on “Create FTP Account” button.
When using the “Password Generator”, click on the “Advanced Options” to choose which characters you wanted to use on the system generated password. Tick the box for “I have copied this password in a safe place.” after you copy the password that is generated. Click on “Use Password” button once done. The password will automatically populate on the password field.
After you create the new user account, it will show up on the category FTP Accounts. From there, you will see the Log in name, Path of the FTP, and the disk space usage. You will also have the options for change password, change quota (disk space), delete the account and configure FTP client that you can use.
Configure FTP client will show you the FTP username, FTP server, and FTP/FTPS port (21 by default).
Available FTP clients with their configuration files are, FileZilla (For Windows), CoreFTP (For Windows) and Cyberduck (For Mac).
Special FTP Accounts on the lower part of the FTP Accounts page are the account that are linked to the administrator accounts of your hosting and cannot be removed.
