This will be applicable to resellers, VPS, or dedicated server customers who have access to WHM.

If a client or customer has reported or suspected that their IP address has been blocked from the firewall for any possible reason, or if you want to open/close ports and whitelist/blocklist IP addresses, you will need to access the Firewall in the WHM interface. All of these can be done within the “ConfigServer Security&Firewall” section.

You may find the “ConfigServer Security&Firewall” under the Plugins Section in WHM and can be searched by typing in “firewall” from the search box on the top left part of the screen.

Find and unblock IP address

To find out whether the IP address has been blocked by the firewall, you may use the “Search for IP” function under the csf – ConfigServer Firewall section.

Once initiated and found that the IP address is blocked, the reason will also be listed on the screen.

There will be an option to Unblock the IP address that will be given, after which you can click on the Return button when you’re done unblocking the IP address.

Open and Close Firewall Ports

If you wanted to open or close a port in the firewall, open the “Firewall Configuration” option under the csf – ConfigServer Firewall section.

Scroll down to the IPv4 Port Settings and locate the “Allow incoming TCP ports” and “Allow outgoing  TCP ports”

To open the port, you need to add it from the list and remove the port number if you need to close it.

For you to save the modifications done, you need to scroll down to the bottom and click on the “Change” button.

Whitelist and Blocklist IP address

If you wish to whitelist/allow and blocklist/deny an IP address, you may do this under the csf – Quick Actions section.

To allow an IP address, type in the IP address that you wanted to be whitelisted and allowed from the firewall on the green colored field or click on the “gear” icon to add your own IP address then add a comment on the field below the IP address field. To save, just click on the “Quick Allow” button on the left side.

To deny an IP address, type in the IP address that you wanted to be blocklisted and denied from the firewall on the red colored field then add a comment below the IP address field. To save, just click on the “Quick Deny” button on the left side.
